Philip Chiang grew up in Japan, but later moved with his family to the States where he started a successful business in the casual-dining sector. That business is now P.F. Chang’s.
Paul Fleming joined Chiang and together they redesigned the business. Chiang took it upon himself to provide “simpler and fresher” Chinese cuisine while Fleming never gave up on the idea of serving food the American-style way. It all worked out smoothly because P.F. Chang’s developed as one of the most successful restaurant chains in America, recession and all.
The business first opened in Scottsdale, Arizona in 1993 as the first Chinese restaurant with a different approach. The P.F. Chang’s menu, different than typical Chinese menus at the time, featured fewer dishes cooked somewhat differently.
The company also introduced an extensive wine list, with wines arranged by flavor and served by glass. Today, the beverages menu features specialty cocktails also, along with a great variety of beer, from draft to craft beer bottles, tea, coffee, and sake.
P.F. Chang’s menu is quite extensive and it includes entrees, main dishes, soups, salads, noodles and rice, sides, and desserts at affordable prices. Gluten-free and vegetarian options exist for all those cutting back on meat or everyone vegetarian all-the way.
Moderately priced, wok-cooked, hand-sliced and hand-shaped, the food at P.F. Chang’s comes with special offers regularly. For example, customers can choose from selected items at a special price starting at $3, anything from Kung Pao Chicken to Chang’s Vegetarian Lettuce Wraps.
Occasionally, P.F. Chang’s include select dishes on local menus for a limited time, so make sure to check regularly on their website for updates.
